The final count down has begun for the Peregrine Falcon’s hatch date. Greg Septon of the  Urban Peregrine Falcon Recovery Effort from the  Department of Natural Resources is anticipating a hatch date of May 16-18. Once the eyasses are born, banding usually occurs shortly after when the young are between 18-22 days of age. Currently, banding is estimated to take place the 6th or 7th of June, but first we need to see if and when the eggs hatch. Since the hatch dates are only estimates, sometimes the eggs take a day or so longer to hatch.

The next big task, and question many people are asking, is what will the baby falcons be named. We are excited to announce we will be hosting the first Briess Peregrine Falcon Eyasses Naming Contest. Names submissions will be taken through an online survey through midnight of Wednesday, May 25th.

Once the submission form has been closed, the top 10 names will then be selected and placed up for a public vote on the Briess Facebook page. The final name(s) and winners will be announced when the eyasses are banded in early June. The winner(s) of the 2016 Peregrine Falcon Eyasses Naming Contest will receive a Briess gift basket filled with Briess gear and famous malted milk balls.
